Inspired by: Lia Coleman’s presentation on beat detector build-up and on how Ai generated art can be used in TD.
My version of AI art was generated by using the StyleGAN model “Pizza and Beyond” by Chaumasaur.
Pizza video was used to create trippy visuals, triggered by a Beat detector based on a self-composed music track.
Runway ML Training
After the AI-generated pizza video, I wanted to try to feed the machine myself. To do so I had to provide the StyleGAN model with some photos, it would be better to have from 1000 to 3000 pieces, but in my case, I was able to collect only 300. It was still enough for the bot to learn my friend’s face and create a quite sinister morth montage.

Performance simulation
The idea was to build a live painting where subjects would be controlled by the keyboard buttons. At the same time, Ableton Lives would also run giving the player the possibility to combine visual performance with sounds from a small available collection. In this way, players can create each time an unique and unrepeatable masterpiece.
